In the summer of 2008, Alanis Morissette will release her seventh studio album, Flavors of Entanglement, written and recorded in London and Los Angeles with producer Guy Sigsworth. The new record is described by Morissette herself as sounding "techno, but organic" - including tracks that you can "dance your face off" to. While the leaked track "Underneath" leaves a bit to be desired in terms of a new sound, it's a classic Morissette tune with an infectous chorus and powerful, observant, and thoughtful lyrics. January proved to be an exciting time for fans with a handful of new information pouring from magazines and online sources about the new album. It also marked the date for Morissette's first proper concert and tour in over two years - she had spent the previous ten years writing and recording music and touring annually. During the break, the Canadian chanteuse travelled, wrote poetry, grew her hair back, lost some important people in her life, and spent time doing charity work. She also guest appeared on a couple television shows, starred in a movie (Radio Free Albemuth, to be released this summer) and of course - did a classic re-interpretation of the Black Eyed Peas track, My Humps. Now, Morissette is about to embark upon the next chapter in her life, and the Alanis fans of the world are ready to travel on the journey right along with her. |
